My top picks:
Immediately after I found out I was pregnant, I rushed to the google gods in search for the best stretch marks products. I know...how vain but hey I'm being honest here. After pouring for hours over product reviews I just gave up because I just didn't know which ones to trust and I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on oils, creams, and potions that wouldn't work. MIRACULOUSLY that week I got a care package from one of my best friends in Hawaii with guess what...oils to prevent stretch marks!
According to one of her girlfriends who has kids, she swore by bio oil. Forget the lotions and creams, she said, OILS are the way to go. I have to agree with her. I absolutely love the bio oil. It applies on thick and smooth and it even got rid of the tiny stretch marks I got when I was in high school! I also used argan oil from Kiehl's when I wanted something a little lighter on my skin. I'm a little over 8 months into my pregnancy and I've used a bottle of argan oil and about four 2oz bottles of bio oil.
BONUS: Bio oil is affordable, easy to travel with AND available at any drugstore. I think they sell the 4.2 oz size at Costco.
While searching online for even more products (I'm crazy I know), a lot of mommy blogs suggested Mama Mio's line of lotions. They apply on great but its much lighter than bio oil and can get pricey if you decide to buy a lot. All of the products pictured above left my skin tingling with a cool sensation plus they smell delicious. My biggest problem during the first few months of pregnancy were my boobs. THEY WERE SO DANG ITCHY! So you can see why the 'boob tube' was really appealing to me. It really scared me because I thought for sure I would get stretch marks there from all the rubbing I was doing. I even kept a little bottle of bio oil in my purse just to alleviate the itch. It was bad.
And finally while I was shopping in Portland, I decided to check out LUSH since I had a gift card. Not only do I love this company's philosophy but the store smells amazefestUSA. The sales girl helping me suggested that I try their King of Skin butter bar and OH MY WOW I love it! I rub the bar all over my body before I leave the shower and rinse off any extra residue. It leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft and moisturized. I hardly have to put on any oils, if I use that after my baths.
I rub the oils all over my belly, boobs, back, butt and thighs even before I started showing...twice a day. Preventative care is what I like to call it :)
My husband is honestly the best when it comes to helping me out. This maybe a little TMI but he loves to rub the oils all over, especially my belly. I can see he enjoys that extra tummy time to talk to our son while giving him a little massage.
Luckily I haven't had any stretch marks yet *knock on wood.*
