My sister Shaiyanne is in town from NYC for two weeks and she has one goal: bake her skin to a crisp. So we tagged along with her and her best friend Naomi for a day trip to the North Shore! Gianluca was so lucky to have two aunties taking care of him that day :D This was only my first time time taking Luca to the beach for the whole day without his dad but we had a blast and surprisingly it wasn't stressful at all! I packed our bags with only the essentials and enjoyed our lazy day in the country. Here's our photo diary:
Winter in Hawaii, you can't beat it.
Practicing his crawling stance (6 months old).
More on Luca's beach bag essentials at the bottom!
Breakfast of champs: blueberry cream cheese scones from Diamond Head bakery and some Govinda's juice to wash it all down.
All lathered in sun screen! We didn't even bother with swim shorts. #hawaiianstyle
Checking out the monster surf.
It's official... he hates sand and the ocean.
I think Luca was a little traumatized.
TKO'd under the shade.
This was more of his style...not touching the sand or water lol!
Q is for quinoa! Pupukea Grill has the bombest grindz.
Coconut curry quinoa with pita & salad, spicy ahi salad with quinoa & a spicy ahi bowl with avocado on brown rice. #droolz
Of course rainbow shave ice with ice cream and condensed milk from Matsumotos.
Beach essentials for my keiki::
- baby carrier
- beach towel
- sunscreen
- swaddle
- sun hat
- a few of his waterproof toys
- swim diapers (not really necessary for the beach)
- regular diapers
- wipes and baby powder (which is also very useful when dusting off that sticky sand!)
- extra change of clothes
I kept all of his essentials organized in these awesome see-through mesh bags called Sugar Snap Files! I take them everywhere I go and are perfect for keeping his things organized.
You don't see any bottles because I'm exclusively breast feeding. I was kind of shocked that Luca didn't like the beach. He loves the pool but for some reason the beach was not his cup of tea. I'm hoping that will change as he grows older. I loved watching the little kids run around in their saggy diapers on the beach.
